Unit 9
Motivation
In this unit I learned a lot of things and new
terms about motivation in learning. So, in this post you'll see how
motivation affects learning.
First of all, you have to know the meaning
of motivation. It is described as a state that energizes,
directs and sustains behavior. Goals provide the impetus for and the
direction of action. While action entails effort, persistence in order to
sustain activity for a long period of time. Also, we have several different
factors which can influence motivation such as confidence (feeling
that we can do things successfully), learning autonomy/independence (feeling
responsible for and in control of our own learning) and encourage which
helps to realize the importance of the foreign language and give us emotional
support as we learn. Those terms play an important role in the classroom
because teachers should be aware of these terms in an effort to reinforce
activities and interests that students already show their knowledge.
On the other hand,
learners’ motivation may be mixture. There are learners who are unmotivated (who
have no motivation) or are demotivated (they have lost their
motivation) and their motivation can change according to the age and other
factors more or less important as learners get older. For this reason, educators
have to do many things to create a good classroom environment that motivates
students to learn and behave in ways that promote their long-term success. So,
motivation enhances cognitive processing. Actually it affects what and how
information is processed because motivated students are more likely to pay
attention and try to understand the material instead of simply going through
the motions of learning in a superficial manner.
In conclusion, motivation
is important in getting students to engage in academic activities. It is also
important determining how much students will learn from different activities in
the classroom.
Here you can watch an interesting video about this.
Good!
ResponderEliminarYou greatly synthesize the main features which are involved in Teaching and Applying Motivation in the classroom. It just would be great if you add some sources in which we can go to and find more data about it.
Nice
ResponderEliminarI agree with you in the part hat teachers need to engage the activities into the classroom, also encourage and prize works in a big way
Your ideas are well-organized, I really like how you take ideas about the engagement in the classroom, and your links have more useful information about this topic, that will help us to use in the classroom.

ResponderEliminarMarcelo your reflection is really clear and expresses the three main points to motivate Students which are to build up their confidence for them to feel that they can do things successfull. Then to build their learning autonomy so that they become responsible and encourage for them to realize the importance of learning English.
